It seems that the ruler of Dubai’s daughter made her divorce public on social media. Her Highness Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the princess of Dubai, shocked everyone on Instagram by addressing her husband’s infidelity.
The following was written by Sheikha Mahra, the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s vice president, prime minister, and ruler of Dubai: “Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you. I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife,”
A post on Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s verified Instagram account announced the couple’s divorce. It wrote, “I hereby declare our divorce.”
Neither Sheikha Mahra’s father nor her husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, have made any public remarks.
“Dear Husband” is how the message started, and it ended with “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you,” which appears to be an application of the Islamic practice termed triple talaq.
Although many nations have outlawed the practice, but usually husbands can typically quickly file for divorce from their spouses by repeating “I divorce you” three times.
“Take Care. Your ex-wife,” the last line of the Instagram message.
It looks like Sheikha Mahra’s account had all of her husband’s pictures removed. Similarly, Sheikh Mana’s account doesn’t appear to have any images of his wife.
The couple’s first child (a baby girl) was born two months ago, and they were joined in marriage in April 2023 in a sumptuous ceremony.
In May 2024, Sheikha Mahra and Sheikh Mana welcomed a baby girl into the world as their first child. On May 2, Sheikh Mana announced their daughter Mahra’s birth on Instagram, sharing the happy news with her mother.
Sheikha Mahra has been seen as a brave and outspoken woman who isn’t scared to publicly criticize her husband. By bringing such a private matter to the public front, she has demonstrated a contemporary and audacious side of monarchy that appeals to people.
Fans and followers had observed the royal couple’s actions on social media, unfollowing and deleting each other’s photos from their accounts. Some talked about the Islamic divorce process, while others wondered if Sheikha Mahra’s account had been hacked.
The user’s bravery was praised and sympathies were expressed in a variety of comments on her bravery-filled Instagram post, which quickly gathered 33.7K likes.
One user wrote, “I am proud. Your Decision,” while another praised her bravery and said, “It is simply a phase of life and it will keep going with good and disappointment and life doesn’t stop for anybody.”
