The Department of Posts, which comes under the Ministry of Communications, has declared a big recruitment for about 44,238 posts. Such as Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), Assistant Branch Post Masters (ABPM), and Branch Post Masters (BPM).
Registration for the vacant posts at the official website of India Post is now open up to 5th August for a total of 44,228 posts as per the details shared by the Department of Communications.
After the registration process, applicants will have two days to make changes to their India Post GDS application, including submitting the right documents, dated between August 6 – August 8.
Based on their class 10 scores, the India Post will shortlist candidates. A system-generated merit will then be made available to the shortlisted candidates on the official site of GDS portal. Following this, the candidates will receive an SMS on their registered mobile phone with information about their results and the dates for document verification.
Step 1- Go to the official portal of India Post GDS.
Step 2- Registration:
Register yourself by filling details such as name, DoB, mobile number, and active email ID. After submitting the details, applicants will get a registration number and a password via both email and SMS.
Step 3- Filling Application Form:
Applicants will have to log in with the required registration number and given password. Also have to provide personal details, academic details, and other required information.
Step 4- Upload Required Documents:
In this step, applicants must have to upload scanned copies of their 10th grade, a recent passport sized photograph in definite dimensions, a neat and clean signature, and any other necessary documents.
Step 5- Payment Process:
Applicants will have to pay Rs 100/- as an online application fee using a credit card, or debit card, or net banking, or UPI.
Step 6- Submit the Application:
Last step is to review and then submit an application form, before submitting ensure that all details are correct, and then after confirmation download the confirmation page for future records.
The last date to apply for GDS vacancy 2024 is 5th August 2024.
Salaries for different posts varies: Such as for ABPM/ GDS salary lies ₹10,000-24,470/month; and for BPM it lies ₹12,000-29,380/ month.

Dak Sevaks may be required to work in Railway Mail Service sorting offices.
The mail offices’ Dak Sevaks will take care of bag transhipment, reception, and mailbag dispatch.
Additionally, Dak Sevaks will support Post Masters and Sub Postmasters in overseeing the efficient operation of Departmental Post Offices.
